Novell – Where’s The Happy Place

I find myself in a bit of a quandary. Quite a few people, myself included, have voiced their concerns regarding Mono/Novell. I personally won’t use openSUSE on a day to day basis because of their support of Mono. That’s a personal choice, nothing I would ever expect of others.

Today I downloaded their ISO of KDE 4.5. I was going to install it on my netbook and thought, “No, I don’t want openSUSE installed because of Mono”. That led me to realise something though, don’t they also heavily support KDE, mainly the 4 series? The image I just downloaded is from openSUSE and the page is at kde.org. In essence, shouldn’t I be avoiding KDE altogether if that’s the case? Continue reading
